My very first thought upon seeing this promo clip for SNTV was actually, “What in the evermore?”. Which turned out to be a spot-on initial impression as Taylor wore quite a lot of Magnolia Pearl vintage-inspired slips like this during promo for both folklore and evermore.

That side braid and long layered necklace though is peak Speak Now accessorizing 101.

It’s been so fascinating to see Taylor’s relationship with jewelry change over the last few months. The rotation in of chunkier pieces, necklace layering, and large hoops represent a shift in styling that I can’t help but feel is indulgent and fun. And perhaps inspired by the jewels she wears on the Eras Tour. Speaking of!

Many of you will recognize the thicker chain also worn here as one that Taylor has been seen out with a number of times over the last few weeks. It bears similarity to the ‘Medusa’ chain by Versace she wears on the Eras Tour during the opening Lover set but features a different clasp. Ralph Lauren ‘Top Handle Bag’ - $1,800.00 (similar)

RL is one of those long-standing brands Taylor has loved and worn a lot over the years - including their apparel. She’s owned and loved tons of their cable knit sweaters and worn enviable wool coats or items with their signature Americana equestrian touches over the years. But it’s their bags that she’s turned to most often - I know I have fond memories of the brown leather saddle bags she so favoured in 2011-2012.

Here, Taylor appears to carry a similar cross body version of a bag retailing as part of the brand’s current RL Collection Summer 2023 line. You’ll note that her version doesn’t have a top handle detail and also has some lovely gold hardware shoulder strap attachments rather than the more subtle under-flap construction of the one currently retailing.

Another example of Taylor combining her typical style with current trends. Lug sole loafers and this type of slingback take on a chunky loafer are popular as of late and I like the overall cohesive attempt to coordinate grounding black pieces with our first shot of true, vibrant colour in some time!

Free People ‘Melanie Tank’ - $58.00

After a string of candid outfits featuring a heavy dose of neutrals, I love this shot of summery colour that’s a little sweet thanks to the ruffles and a little flirty thanks to the bustier-inspired silhouette. Oh and a little sporty from the strappy detailing on the back.

When paired with a kicky ponytail and some schoolgirl-esque trendy loafer slingbacks, this outfit leans trendy and youthful which is fun - especially when paired with layers of chunky, gold jewelry.

This feels like a very classic and easy to replicate summer 'fit for just about anyone. A tie dye bodysuit or top into a pair of denim cut offs plus some comfy sneakers.

In terms of colour story, I’m picking up the interplay between her bodysuit and bag.

Those braids are also too sweet.

When you have a piece that has fun details like this asymmetric denim skort (the asymmetry, the waist tie, the fact that it’s a skort lol) I think simpler more streamlined pieces would have let it shine. Now would have been a great time for a cropped piece and some sneakers or minimal sandals.

Dôen ‘Henri Top in Salt Eyelet’ - $288.00

Tonally, I appreciate everything that’s going on here. White eyelet is such a crisp and natural go-to for summer, especially when paired with any blue denim piece. 

But there’s something proportionally a bit - dare I say - frumpy and fussy about this ‘fit. Perhaps between the ruffles, the drape of the asymmetric hem and tie waist, and the clunk of the oxford mary janes there is just … a lot going on at the moment. Something a little sleeker had to give, imo (though perhaps that’s what she was going for with her hair). My suggestion would have been a higher-waisted bottom and a tuck of this blouse.
