Chiefs vs Texans in Kansas City

Yesterday I had noted how interesting it was that Taylor was wearing Chanel on the eve of the Chiefs first playoff game. I theorized that it was a fashion timeline continuation of the last time that Taylor made an appearance at a Chiefs game where she wore a vintage Chanel hat. That game happened to be against the Houston Texans. I also wondered if it would be a precursor to today and if she would wear the brand again as a continuation of her presence at these games and a “repeat” of their matchup.
Today, Taylor wore an appropriately winterized look from Chanel’s Resort 2025 runway. Not to toot my own horn but … 📣 For her accessories, the earrings are also from the Chanel R25 collection but the bag and boots appear to be slightly older (retail price listed for the bag is a current style of the flap bag). If I were looking closely, I think the boots might be from circa Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2021 collection.
What I’ve appreciated about Taylor’s game day fashion is how it’s provided a case study in her style. The prospect of a game provides constants (the setting: a football stadium) and constraints (the palette: a team’s colours) that make her fashion fascinating to observe outing after outing. Her intentional game day style created a vacuum for patterns and pillars to be enforced and emerge. Taylor has sought to carve a new genre within her style - one that is distinct, but recognizable. I’ve identified Taylor’s game day style pillars as vintage, women or locally owned brands, and sentimental accessories, typically in Chiefs-forward colours. Even this 2024-25 season as Taylor ups the high end designer quotient of her outfits, there was always at least a splash of Chiefs red.
This outing might be the furthest outside that playing field - although we do see some vintage elements ℅ here boots and bag. This outfit feels like one she’d wear out to dinner in New York. I mean that as both a positive because I’m immediately +1 for anything all black that has great boots and greater outerwear. But I also mean that in a curious way for the lack of obvious Chief-ery at play. The only potential read? Travis’ friends in the suite were also fully blacked out in their ensembles - so it may have been a coordinated effort. What do you think?
