the commentary
Having just recreated a dozen of my favorite Taylor fall fashion ‘fits for the newsletter - this is a classic one from her if I’ve ever seen one! A fall uniform of sorts, Taylor has worn many iterations of an oversized navy sweater and a plaid mini skirt over the years often changing up the accessories to better suit the era of the time. In this instance, she’s actually wearing a sneaky 2-in-1 with a dress that gives the appearance of a sweater and skirt.
To my eye, this outfit almost seems to build on her previous allover chocolate brown monochrome one from last week, giving us a sandwich style moment of brown snakeskin via her accessories between an all navy base. While I tend to favor a rounder toe vs a square, I do love a coordinating sandwich style moment.
What captured me most about the look was one of Taylor’s other style pillars making an appearance: indie brands. Specifically, this new-to-her brand Auter by stylist Rob Zangardi. Zangardi’s celebrity clients include Jennifer Lopez, Suki Waterhouse, and Kerry Washington. Auter’s Fall 2025 lookbook boasts both credentials and connections with many celebrities and celebrity stylists appearing on the site - including Taylor’s own stylist Joseph Cassell. Making the leap to styling his own client in the work of his “brilliant friend” a natural fit. With Auter, Zangardi sought to build a brand around a signature element of his celebrity client ensembles: a killer coat. Zangardi told Vogue upon launch just last month that he “wanted to make coats that you don’t want to take off when you get inside,” adding, “I always feel put together with a great jacket or coat—whether it’s wearing a trench over your workout clothes, or a blazer as a dress.” Taylor has always had an enviable coat game - I love seeing her add a dedicated new label into the mix from a longtime stylist in the game.
